The 15th International Scientific Conference
COMPUTER AIDED ENGINEERING
ABOUT US
The Department of Machine Design and Research, which was created from the former Department of Computer Aided Design in 2014, has been an independent unit at the Mechanical Faculty of Wrocław University of Technology since 1986.
The Department conducts research and teaching activities related to computer aided design (CAD) and concurrent engineering activities. The scientific research pertains to basic geometric and strength modelling in integrated CAD systems and to the development of numerical methods, including the finite element method (FEM) in the mechanics of deformable bodies. The department also performs simulations in the area of fluid mechanics (CFD).
In parallel, the Department conducts experimental studies and develops new measurement techniques. These serve as the basis for verifying numerical models and identifying the phenomena and loads acting on the studied structures.
The Department also conducts designing activities in many areas of mechanical engineering.
We have the accreditation for testing of earth-moving machines, mechanical devices and vehicles based on technical documentation.
The Department of Machine Design and Research actively cooperates with the industry. It conducts development activities, prepares and carries out implementation activities and develops innovative solutions. Owing to this, the solutions that we develop are up to date and have numerous practical applications. Examples of industries and companies with which we cooperate include the following:
